The beginning of the year – A time to start anew and focus on health and wellness. With that in mind this month the Cloud9 Initiative is taking our focus to the American Heart Association whose mission is to build healthier lives free of heart disease and stroke and improving the life of all Americans and providing public health information in a variety of ways.
Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of Americans. Stroke ranks fourth and is a leading cause of severe adult disability.Each year, these diseases kill more than 811,000 Americans, which is roughly the same as the entire population of El Paso, Texas; Baton Rouge, La.; or Tacoma, Wash. Some form of cardiovascular disease affects more than one in every three adult Americans. Many suffer terribly from disabilities caused by these diseases.
The American Heart Association wants everyone to understand the threat – and to know that cardiovascular diseases are largely preventable, and that is why our Cloud9 Initiative has chosen to support the American heart Association for the month of January following our mission of improving our communities.
